5.1 Main Menu

After you successfully log into CoverPage Publisher, you can choose between three options:

  1. Create from PDF
  2. Create Blank document
  3. Open existing project

Choose the option

5.2 Create from PDF

Creating a project from a PDF-file is ideal if you have an existing PDF-file you wish to digitally publish for tablets.

The CoverPage platform uses information about trim marks (Trim box). When creating a project from a PDF-file which is primarily intended for printing, the trim marks (Trim box) have to be properly set to get a good result. Otherwise, unexpected results like different page size, visible trim marks, and the like may appear.

  • The PDF-file cannot contain centrefold pages.
  • It is advisable that individual pages of the document are the same size, since the CoverPage-platform will crop the pages to the same size. Should the pages not be the same size, the result may not conform to your expectations.
  • If your colours are set according to the CMYK colour scheme, it is advisable to convert the document to RGB to get the best possible result on the end device.

To create the project, click Create from PDF in the main menu.

Now enter:

  • Document Name
  • Page format according to device (iPad Retina - recommended)
  • Page dimensions (predefined dimension is suitable for iPad Retina)

The desired project page size. Adjust the size depending on the device for which the project is primarily intended.

PDF File

Choose the PDF-file which you wish to digitalize for tablets.

After filling out the form, click Create to create a new project from your PDF-file or Back to return to the Main menu.

After that, our server will process and prepare your document; this may take up to several minutes depending on the number of pages and the speed of your internet connection.

PDF

Now the document is ready to be used in CoverPage Publisher. You can now add interactive and multimedia features to your project and design it for tablets.

5.3 Create Blank Document

Creating a blank document is applicable when your magazine layout is made out of pictures, one per each page. It is advisable, that individual pages of the document are the same size.

To create the project, click Create blank document in the main menu.

Now enter:

  • Document Name
  • Page format according to device (iPad Retina - recommended)
  • Page dimensions (predefined dimension is suitable for iPad Retina)

The desired project page size. Adjust the size depending on the device for which the project is primarily intended.

After filling in the form, click Create to create a blank document or Back to return to the main menu.

Blank

When the blank document is created, you can add content by importing a PDF-file or pictures (JPG and PNG). More about adding content under Content Management.

5.4 Open Existing Project

In case you have already created a CoverPage project, you can always resume working on it. You can either click Open existing project in the Main menu or double-click the project file with the“.cpg” filename extension from the file directory you have created for this project in the past.
